We do not cut the dark blue thread, we tie the fin along the contour with a “crustacean step”.
We fix the thread, cut it off.
Attach a dark blue thread to the CH between the two fin pieces and knit 6 SC into this loop (6). Next, knit the tail in a spiral.
2nd row: 6 INC (12)
3 row: (SC, INC) * 6 (18)
4 – 5 row: 18 SC (18)
6 row: SC, INC, (2 SC, INC) * 5, SC (24)
7 row: (3 SC in dark blue, 3 SC in light blue) * 4 (24)
8 row: (5 SC in dark blue, 1 SC in light blue) * 4 (24)
Then we knit with St.-blue threads.

47 row: (7 SC, DEC) * 6 (48)
48 row: 3 SC, DEC, (6 SC, DEC) * 5, 3 SC (42)
Next, we will knit a little body, but this is already in the next part, later.
Cut off about 80 cm of wire, fold it in half, make a small loop at the end, twist the ends together and isolate with tissue adhesive or electrical tape.
We insert the wire blank into the tail. We fill the tail with filler.
CORPUSCLE
Where we finished knitting the ponytail with St. blue strings, attach the flesh-colored thread and knit the little body.
1st row: 42 SC for BLO (42)
Note! The marker for the beginning of the row here and further is located in the middle of the side, if necessary, we knit offset loops. Right or left – it does not matter, since the body is knitted symmetrically.
Row 2 – 8 (7 rows): 42 SC (42)
9 row: (5 SC, DEC) * 6 (36)
10-15 row (6 rows): 36 SC (36)
We do not tie the 16th row to the middle of the side (beginning of the row) 2 SC, then we will attach the handles.
We fill the body with filler.
17th row: 4 SC with the handle (at the same time grab the SC of the body and the SC of the handle), 14 SC on the body, 4 SC together with the second handle, 14 SC on the body (36)
18 row: 8 SC on the handle, 14 SC on the body, 8 SC on the second handle, 14 SC on the body (44)
We fasten the wire from the handles to the wire coming from the tail, well insulate with fabric adhesive tape or electrical tape.
19 row: (8 SC, DEC, 10 SC, DEC) * 2 (40)
20 row: (8 SC, DEC) * 4 (36)
21 row: (4 SC, DEC) * 6 (30)
22 row: (3 SC, DEC) * 6 (24)
We fill the body and shoulders with filler.
23 row: SC, DEC, (2 SC, DEC) * 5, SC (18)
24 row: (SC, DEC) * 6 (12)
25 – 29 (5 rows): 12 SC (12)
We fix the thread, leave the long end for sewing on the head, cut it off.
Small addition to stage 4!
We knitted the 1st row of the calf for BLO for a reason, but to make a strapping.
We unfold the doll with its tail away from ourselves, attach the pink thread and make the strapping as follows: (3 CH, SC, 5 CH, SC under the same half-loop, 3 CH, SC under the same half-loop, skip the next half-loop on the body) * 21, that is, we repeat to the end of the row.
We fix the pink thread, cut it off, hide the ends.
FACE SHAPING
Part 1. EYE SHAPING
First, using colored pins, we make markings for eye tightening.
1) We count 17 rows of SC down from the crown and put a blue pin in the center of the protruding part of the head (see photo).
2) We count from the blue pin 5 SC to the left and 2 SC up, put a green pin (point).
3) We count from the green pin (point) 1 SC up and put the purple pin (point).
4) We count from the blue pin (point) 5 SC to the right and 2 SC up, put a red pin (point).
5) We count from the red pin (point) 1 SC up and put the pink pin (point).
6) In the last row of knitting the head, put a yellow pin (point) perpendicular to the blue pin (see photo).
We make an eye tightening using a long needle and a nylon thread (or fishing line) as follows: insert the needle at the yellow point, withdraw at the green point, again insert the needle at the purple point and withdraw at the pink point, then insert the needle at the red point and bring it out to the open head hole.
Tighten the thread slightly, tie the ends into several knots and hide them in the open hole of the head.
Part 2. CHIN TIGHTENING
First, we make the markings for tightening the chin using colored pins.
1) The yellow pin (dot) remains in the last row of knitting in the same place where we put it when marking to tighten the eyes.
2) We count from the yellow pin (point) 3 rows SC up and 3 SC to the left, put a blue pin (point).
3) We count from the blue pin (point) 1 SC to the left and 2 SC up, put a pink pin (point).
4) We count from the yellow pin (point) 3 rows SC up and 3 SC to the right, put a green pin (point).
5) We count from the green pin (point) 1 SC to the right and 2 SC up, put a purple pin (point) (see photo).
With the help of a long needle and a nylon thread (or fishing line), we tighten the chin as follows: insert the needle at the yellow point, bring it out into the blue one, re-insert the needle at the pink point and draw it out in the purple one, then insert the needle at the green point and bring it out into the open hole of the head.
We tighten the thread, tie the ends into several knots, hide them in the open hole of the head.
Part 3. Design of eyes, nose, brows, mouth and ears.
We make out the eyes.
1) Cut out two blanks for the eyes from white felt, look at the shape in the photo.
Note! For those who crocheted No. 3 from threads similar in density to those indicated by me, the size of the felt details is approximately 28 * 30 mm. The rest adjust the size of the eyes visually to the size of the resulting head.
2) We make small cuts in the center of the resulting blanks.
3) Insert green eyes-pupils with a diameter of 25 mm into the incisions.
4) We try on the resulting eyes on the head.
5) Sew on the felt details of the eyes with brown “Iris” or “Mouline” threads with small stitches with an overcast seam.
6) We smear the pupils of the eyes on the back with transparent super-glue and glue.
Note! If you have eyes with a foot or a screw in the back, you don’t need to cut them down!
Stretch the loop on the head where the pupils should be, and insert the leg or screw into the head, then glue the pupil. So the eye will hold more securely!
7) Glue false eyelashes along the edge of the eye with transparent super-glue (see photo).
We decorate the nose and eyebrows.
1) We retreat from the inner corners of the eyes 2 rows of SC down and embroider a nose 2 SC wide with three or four stitches with flesh-colored threads.
2) We embroider the contour of the nose with brown “Iris” or “Mouline” threads (see photo).
3) Go up 2 rows of SC up above the eyes and embroider small eyebrows with brown “Iris” or “Mouline” threads (see photo).
We decorate the sponges.
We step back from the spout 2 rows of SC down and embroider the sponges with dense crimson (or any other suitable) threads. First we embroider the contour of the lips, then fill the space inside the embroidered contour with horizontal stitches, apply the satin stitch technique.
We decorate the ears.
We count from the crown of the 14 rows of SC down and in the middle of the head on the sides with a chain stitch we embroider the contour of the ear (see photo). We do not cut the thread, but for the obtained loops we knit SC, thus we get ears.
Hair.
Part 1. Marking and preparation of hair.
For convenience, we first make markings on the head, designate the future “hairline”. To do this, take brown threads “Iris” or “Mouline thread” and embroider “hairline” with large stitches (see photo).
We make a blank of the hair itself from beige yarn. We take any book 35 cm high, wrap it in height with threads, then cut the threads from one edge with scissors (see photo). The resulting hairs are approximately 70 cm long.
Note! We harvest the hair as needed, so as not to spoil the extra strings.
We look at how to attach hair to the head in the next part.
Hair.
Part 2. Hair attachment.
We attach the hair to the head like a fringe: holding the hook in the direction “from the crown of the head”, insert it under the SC, grab the hair folded in half, pull out the loop, thread the ends of the hair into the pulled loop, tighten. Thus, we first fix the hair along the contour of the “hairline”, then fill in the entire space inside these lines (see photo). Hair should be fastened under each SC, but across the SC row.
Sew the finished head to the body.
Unicorn headband + bra.
Unicorn headband.
First we knit the ears (2 parts).
We begin to knit from the inside of the ear with pink threads in turning rows.
1 row: we cast on 12 CH + 1 CHH, from the second from the hook of the loop we knit along a chain of CH 12 SC, CH, turn (12)
2 – 3 row: 12 SC, CH, turn (12)
4th row: DEC, 8 SC, DEC, CH, turn (10)
5 – 6 row: 10 SC, CH, turn (10)
7 row: DEC, 6 SC, DEC, CH, turn (8)
8 – 9 row: 8 SC, CH, turn (8)
10 row: DEC, 4 SC, DEC, CH, turn (6)
11 row: 6 SC, CH, turn (6)
12 row: DEC, 2 SC, DEC, CH, turn (4)
13 row: 2 DEC (2)
We fix the thread, cut it off.
We knit 2 such details.
Then we knit the outer part of the ear with St.-blue threads in a similar pattern, but we do not cut the thread in the last row. We continue to knit, connecting the outer and inner parts of the ear, tying it along the SC contour (see photo).
After both parts of the ear are connected, we do not cut the St.-blue thread we tie the ear along the contour as follows: CH, SL-ST.
Then we fix the thread, cut it off.
We knit a HORN.
We begin to knit with white threads.
1st row: 6 into magic ring (6)
2nd row: 6 SC (6)
3rd row: 6 INC (12)
4th row: 12 SC (12)
Change the thread to pink.
5 – 6 row: 12 SC (12)
Change the thread to white.
7 row: (SC, INC) * 6 (18)
8 row: 18 SC (18)
Change the thread to pink.
9-10 row: 18 SC (18)
Change the thread to white.
11 – 12 row: 18 SC (18)
Change the thread to pink.
13-14 row: 18 SC (18)
Change the thread to white.
15-16 row: 18 SC (18)
We do not cut the thread yet.
Lightly fill the horn with filler.
Fold and join the edges of the SC.
We fix the thread, cut it off.
Next, we make the RIM.
1) Cut off about 22 cm of a wire with a diameter of 2 mm and make a blank of it to fit the size and shape of your pupa’s head (see photo).
Note! The piece of wire may be smaller / larger than I indicated, depending on the size of your pupa’s head. Since everyone was knitted with different threads, you should measure it precisely with your toy.
2) With round nose pliers (or small pliers) we bend the ends at the blank for the rim (see photo).
3) With St. blue threads we tie the workpiece made of SC wire.
4) Glue half-beads to the ends (optional).
5) We sew or tie the ears and horn to the rim.
Part 2. Bra.
We knit with pink threads.
1 row: we collect 3 CH + 1 CHH, in the second loop from the hook we knit INC, then SC, INC in the last loop, CH, turn (5)
Note! Then we knit all rows for BLO.
2nd row: INC, 3 SC, INC, CH, turn (7)
3rd row: INC, 5 SC, INC, CH, turn (9)
4 – 5 row: 9 SC, CH, turn (9)
6 row: DEC, 5 SC, DEC, CH, turn (7)
7 row: DEC, 3 SC, DEC, CH, turn (5)
8 row: DEC, SC, DEC, CH, turn (3)
We knit SC in the middle loop, we do not cut the thread, but we tie the part along the contour of the SL-ST.
Then we fix the thread, cut it off.
We knit the second part in the same way, but after tying, we do not cut the thread, but connect it to the first part using SL-ST. Then we fix the thread, cut it off.
From the sides we attach a pink thread and knit strings: we cast on 30 CH + 1 CHH, from the second from the loop hook we knit a combination (SL-ST, CH) to the end of the chain.
We fix the thread, cut it off, hide the ends.
We decorate the bra to your taste (optional).
We put on a bra for the Little Mermaid. We decorate the tail with beads, half-beads, rhinestones, ribbons and other decorative elements (optional).
The little mermaid has any hairstyle, the length of the hair allows. We put a headband on the head.
Blush the cheeks with dry pastels.
CONGRATULATIONS! YOUR MERMAID IS READY !!!
